The New Athletica Training Experience Is Live

Hello Reader,

The new Athletica Training Experience is now live.

This update brings together a refreshed interface, a conversational AI Coach, and Athletica U into a single, integrated training environment. The best place to begin is by taking the Tour.

Start with the Tour
From the left-hand panel, navigate to Learn → Tour. This guided walkthrough will orient you to the new experience and show you how the key parts of the platform fit together, including the Calendar, Dashboard, Roadmap, Plan Builder, Workout Wizard, Session Analysis, AI Coach, Insights, Recovery Profile, Education, and Community.

Get familiar with the new interface
After the Tour, spend a few minutes exploring the updated layout. Your training dashboard, calendar (month or week view), and insights are now designed to surface what matters most, faster and more clearly. The dashboard highlights today’s session, upcoming target events, training phase, and current state and recovery. You can access a range of customization options in your Account settings.

Chat with the AI Coach
Use the AI Coach to ask questions about your training, your sessions, or your progression. It is there to help you understand and adapt your plan, not to replace your judgment. Try querying today’s session, your recovery status, or how your training is progressing toward your goal. Customize how your AI coach interacts with you and manages your training in your AI Coach Settings.

Complete a session and review it
After your next workout, spend a moment reviewing it. Session presentation and analysis have been refined to better connect effort, intent, and outcome. You can also use your AI Coach to explore the session in more depth and understand how it fits into your broader training progression.

Explore Athletica U
Athletica U is built to help you understand why you are training the way you are. Short, focused education is now part of the platform itself. Navigate via Learn → Education, and consider starting with Certificate 1.

For coaches
This release focuses on the athlete experience. Work on a dedicated Coach UI is planned to commence in Q2 2026. We are committed to building a coach-specific experience that respects how you work and make decisions.

This launch is a foundation. We will continue to refine, improve, and build from here, guided by your feedback. If you have feedback on the new UI or your experience, please reach out via https://support.athletica.ai or email support@athletica.ai.

Thank you for training with us and for being part of the Athletica community.

Dear Reader, I remember learning about energy systems in school. Professor Paul Gastin's diagram was the gold standard: a clean picture of how much each system contributed depending on effort duration. You've probably seen similar. ATP-PCr, Glycolysis/lactic, Aerobic; each with its lane, each with its moment. Gastin (2001)'s classic energy system interaction model for maximal exercise. Then I watched a film that added the piece Gastin hadn't for me. That these systems are never one or the...

Hello Reader, Sebastian Sawe ran 1:59:30 in London last weekend. Three men finished under the previous world record for the marathon. Coaches and media publicly credited 100–120 g/hr of carbohydrate. The running internet promptly lost its mind. So on the Athlete’s Compass Podcast this week, Paul Warloski and I took the question head-on: should you be eating like Sawe? Short answer: no. But the longer answer is more interesting. And it points somewhere the sports nutrition field hasn’t quite...
